6 Mistakes to Avoid When Decorating Your Living Room

6 mistakes to avoid when decorating your living room

#1: no comfy furniture

You’re going to want comfy furniture in your living room, especially if you want to spend a lot of time in there! So read the reviews, go in a store to test it out make sure it’s going to be comfy! Otherwise you’re going to end up fighting over “the spot” and never end up using what you paid for.

#2: MATCHING FURNITURE SET

This one isn’t really a mistake but if you want your space to look like a designer put it together, opt for mixed furniture. I do think that there is an exception to this and that’s if you have a larger space where the couches can be placed farther away from the wall. The smaller the room, the more I would recommend not using a matching furniture set.

#3: clutter

While you want this room to feel cozy and welcoming, you don’t want to over kill it with decor. Doesn’t mean no decor, just not overkill.

#4: CARPET

Most living rooms should have a rug if the room has a hard wood floor. Please don’t make the rug too small. It needs to be bigger than your furniture. Most spaces need an 8×10 or a 9×12. If you are designing your space, the living room is a great room for carpet if you’re looking for a cheaper option.

#5: THROW BLANKET

Not having a throw blanket somewhere, are you kidding me? No living room should not have a throw blanket. Go get one!!

#6: LEAVING YOUR COFFEE TABLE EMPTY

It’s your living room, it’s okay if it looks a little lived in! If you want your space to feel a little cozy, simply throw a magazine, vase, flower or some kind of decor item on your coffee table.
